Marianne Faithful Poster 1997 s/n 100 Gary Houston MINT
Marianne Faithfull, featuring Paul Trueblood on Piano, March 22, 1997, Aladdin Theater, Portland, OR, Signed and Numbered Limited Edition of just 100 by Gary Houston
This tour, which featured Faithfull playing with just a piano as accompaniment, followed the release of "20th Century Blues," another in a long line of super fine solo recordings by the inimitable and quite infamous British ingenue. She has, of course, continued to surprise, delight and shock since her early identity as '60s Brit Pop darling and girlfriend of Mick Jagger. The album's subtitle is "An Evening in the Weimar Republic, referring to the period in Germany roughly between 1919 and 1933, before the Third Reich, one which provided a bounty of artistic endeavor before its citizens -- many Jewish -- were exiled, killed or sent to concentration camps. It was during this period that Kurl Weill and his collaborations with Bertold Brecht captured the imagination of the German public. The album contains Weill tunes, of course, but also some unexpected choices from the likes of Harry Nilsson, among others.
