2017 marks the 85th anniversary of the birth of Glenn Gould, a solitary musician and pianist born in Canada. To commemorate this, Glenn Gould Foundation of Canada held special exhibitions and concerts of Gould all over the world, but in Japan, Ryuichi Sakamoto was asked to curate the event. Mr. Sakamoto, who has been influenced by Gould since he was a child and loves Gould's music so much that he has released a compilation CD of his own selection, agrees with this request. In December, a fusion event "Glenn Gould Gathering" such as exhibitions and concerts related to Glenn Gould was held mainly in Sogetsu Hall. The highlight of the tribute concert "Glenn Gould-Remodels" includes Alva Noto, an artist who leads contemporary electronic music in Germany, and Christian Fennesz, an Austrian guitarist who has opened up a new world of acoustics. , In addition to a musician who has been close to Mr. Sakamoto for many years, Gould's genius, pianist Francesco Tristano and others appeared. It will be a live album that captures the moment of the once-in-a-lifetime meeting.
