At the "Feast of Chopin & Rachmaninoff Gem Concerto" held at Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall on January 20, Yokoyama performed with Chopin's two piano concertos, as well as Rachmaninoff's "Piano Concerto No. 2" and "Rhapsody on a Paganini". He performed a luxurious program called "Rhapsody on a Rhapsody". With Tatsuya Shimono and the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Yokoyama brilliantly completed this gorgeous program. His concert program is lengthy, at least once a year for more than eight hours, with his incredible concentration on stage with all his might and one goal. There is a figure like his investigator who is trying to master it. This album contains two Rachmaninoff songs from the second half of the concert and an encore. Yokoyama eloquently speaks not only of the rich romanticism and luscious lyricism of Rachmaninoff's work, but also of the deep prayers that underlie the work. There, you can feel his philosophical feelings, not just to play the work stubbornly. "Piano Concerto No. 2" is said to be Yokoyama's most frequently performed concerto. A dynamic swell like a taiga is created through a heavy touch. The outstanding music construction is also excellently demonstrated in "Rhapsody on the Theme of Paganini". He clearly portrays the depths of Rachmaninoff while playing 24 variations of different personalities with various expressions. And in "Vocalise" arranged by Yokoyama, a dim passion is told through a deeply tuned tune. He has a unique nature that makes the piano sing like a human voice or an orchestra. He has also composed music since he was a child, and you can get a glimpse of that aspect from this song. It is the result of Yokoyama's unrivaled performance technique, musicalally superior sense of balance, and high concentration that can express such a virtuoso-like program with overwhelming power and delicate emotions. Yokoyama, who has already reached the level of a famous pianist representing Japan, has attracted attention at a young age and has always been active on the front lines of Japan. This album reflects the life of Yokoyama's pianist.
