Following the transformation of Hosokawa's work over a quarter of a century-this is the 10th memorable work of "Sound Universe", which was released in 1987.
Today, Hosokawa is one of the busiest composers in the world. The Circulating Sea, premiered by Gergiev / Vienna Philharmonic at the Salzburg Music Festival last year, attracted a great deal of attention. Since September, he has been invited to the Berlin Institute of Advanced Studies as a researcher, following Nono, Ligeti, Henze, Lachenmann, and Reem as a composer.
On this CD, next mushroom promotion (nmp) plays all of the recorded works.
nmp is a group of performers specializing in contemporary music based in Kansai. The group name is "the next generation of cages" and is listed with the spirit of promoting "the new way of music after cages".
Until now, nmp has been intensively playing works by Cage, Lachenmann, Lachenmann, etc., but held a concert "Toshio Hosokawa-50 Years of Landscape" on October 15th last year to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his birth. This was a magnificent content in which a total of 15 songs, including 6 songs that premiered in Japan, were performed in three parts from 2 pm to 8:30 pm, from the composer's high school study to recent works. It is a new memory that the "5th Keizo Saji Award" was given to this uncompromising project full of challenging spirit.
Toshio Hosokawa has full confidence in the performance of nmp. This time, he conducted three songs himself, and the result was perfect.
Please look forward to the memorable 10th "Sound Universe", the first SACD of Hosokawa's work.
