Excellent recording with a focus on warm vocals and sensual tenor saxophone
A timeless bossa nova masterpiece co-starred by cool tenor Stan Getz and bossa nova god Joao Gilberto. Featuring master Antonio Carlos Jobim, his masterpiece "The Girl from Ipanema" was sung by Joan in Portuguese first, followed by his wife Astrud Gilberto in English, and is known as the best performance of the song. .. Recorded in New York in 1963, it captures the delicate and loose rhythm of the Bossa Nova guitar, the harmony of the colorful piano, and the unique Brazilian atmosphere of the soft and melodious tenor saxophone. That is also the secret of its popularity over the years. This work won the Grammy Award for Best Album of the Year in 1965, and the engineer was Phil Ramone, who later worked as a music producer for Billy Joel, Paul Simon and others. Has won the Excellent Engineer Award.
* Recorded by returning to the original LP panning (Astrad Gilberto's vocal is on the left channel) when it first appeared. It has the same specifications as the 50th anniversary deluxe edition of this work released in 2014.
