This year (2022), Blomstedt, who turns 95, made the first set of all recordings of R. Strauss for three albums on the DENON label. The combination with the composer Dresden Staatskapelle has an unrivaled charm. The ORT mastering system originally developed by Nippon Columbia has made it high resolution and revived with the sound field and sound quality unique to SACD. The CD layer also uses this remastering sound source.

Blomstedt and Staatskapelle Dresden started the project with Bruckner: Symphony No. 7 recorded in 1980 as a collaboration between Japan Columbia and Schallplatten in Germany at that time, and Mozart's No. 40 & 41 in August of the following year. After recording, Bruckner's No. 4 was recorded the following month, and Mozart's No. 38 & 39 was recorded the following month, and at this point a total of four albums were completed (April 2022). In this project, it was converted to SACD. TWSA1117,1119). Blomstedt was the principal conductor from 1975 to 1985, and in this combination, the complete symphonies of German Schallplatten and Beethoven and Schubert, Dvorak's symphony No. 8 and other masterpieces (SACD with Berlin Classics) It was a time when (released by planning) was recorded and the reputation was rising both in name and reality. At the end of his term, "Ein Heldenleben" was recorded in September 1984. Together with the excellent recording, this board became a big hit in Japan. From 1985, Blomstedt was transferred to the music director of the San Francisco Symphony, but R. Strauss's recording continued after this, recording a total of five songs in 1987 and 1989, a little further away, with the DENON label. Recording is finished.
These recordings with Dresden Staatskapelle, an orchestra associated with R. Strauss, combine a sincere attitude towards Blomstedt's work, a high degree of musical maturity, and the fascinating sound of a traditional orchestra. It is one of the highly acclaimed sound sources of the DENON label's overseas recordings. Speaking of R. Strauss recordings of Dresden Staatskapelle, although there are a series of recordings by Kempe in the 1970s, the existence value of these recordings has never diminished, but rather how the conductor conveys the charm of the work. You can feel the depth of Dresden Staatskapelle, which conveys the skill of the orchestration. In particular, Peter Damm of the horn is very active, and you can feel the accuracy and high level of the whole ensemble and the fulfillment of each solo player.

DENON's PCM digital recordings during this period have already been well-developed, and you can enjoy wonderful tones that make use of the beautiful sound of the Luke Church. You can feel the sound more. Since the effect of ORT is remarkable and the dynamic range is wide, it can be said that it is a recording that can get the benefits of SACD including the large number of sounds.
I felt that ORT is a technology that evolves the appeal of SACD. (Omitted) ORT mastering is a wonderful technology that can be noted that the sound quality is enhanced by reducing distortion. (Masamitsu Fukuda) From the manual ~

At that time, the production was carried out as a joint production of Nippon Columbia-Deutsche Schallplatten, and the recording was done by two prominent German Schallplatten engineers. The recording time is different, but the sound quality tends to be close. With this ORT mastering, you will be able to grasp the richness of indirect sounds and overtones, and the special mention of individual recordings, which should expand the way you enjoy playing. Even though it was a digital recording with the initial specifications, Nippon Columbia at that time already had a lot of experience and know-how, so it goes without saying that the sound quality itself is originally good and has a sense of stability. This time, you can enjoy clear sound quality that is more vivid and deep. We hope that these latest reprints will further enhance the reputation of the revived masterpieces. In addition, one title will be released for the third release this time.

"Overtone Reconstruction Technology" is a technology that predicts and reconstructs the high-frequency components of musical tones that were lost during digital conversion of many masterpieces of the DENON label recorded on CD specs, using the overtones of the low-frequency part. (ORT) ”has been developed. "ORT Mastering" is a combination of this overtone reconstruction technology and the high-quality mastering technology of "Master Sonic 64bit Processing" that has been introduced in the past. Making the most of the wide frequency band and dynamic range obtained by ORT, we will deliver the charm of famous performances and recordings faithfully to the original sound.
