Since it is challenging to see red pandas in the wild, most research on their behavior has been conducted in cages.
The red panda is thought to be nocturnal and crepuscular, sleeping in the middle of the night while being active.
Usually, it snoozes or rests in trees or other high places; in hot weather, it sprawls out prone on a branch with legs dangling,
and in cold weather, it curls up with a hind limb over its face.
With the rear foot holding on to the middle of the tree stem, it lowers to the earth head first and is designed for climbing.
It bounds or trots fast across the ground.
