First edition (Schuster and Engen 201, variant 1h). Glazed paper covered boards with blue cloth spine. Yellow page edges, dark green endpapers. This variant has no printer's ornaments to the sides of 'Edmund Evans' on the title page. Figure of a young boy to verso of title page. Engraved and printed statement to page 65. Includes the three illustrations that were omitted in later editions (p21, 35 and 63 - the final one is rather disturbing). Chipping and slight loss to board edges. Occasional light marking to pages, p61/62 has two tears, one affecting the illustration. Overall Condition is Good
