For sale is a fantastic Antique 19th C Victorian era American Wallpaper Hat Box. It is made entirely out of paper with hand painted detail and patterns. The condition is very solid and the color well preserved considering this is a paper object that is more than 150 years old. The hand painted white pattern on baby blue background is very elegant and highly attractive. It reminds me of high style impressionist paintings popular in 1870s. Perhaps the box is made with their influence in mind.

The box measures 14” by 10” for the lid and about 7.5” tall. The box is in excellent condition with no major stains or damages. There are two short slots cut through the rim of the lid. It seems to be an intentional alternation at some point. They do not weaken the box structurally. See the last photo. The interior appear to be dry and very clean. Minor Age appropriate surface oxidation and discoloration is to be expected. Please check photos from all angles to see the detailed condition.
