USA Scott #26 stamp tied by January 28th Millport, New York cds on illustrated advertising cover for the Seneca Lake Highland Nurseries. Millport, New York is an incredibly small town populated with less than 300 people and spanning roughly 1/3 of a square mile. Neither Helbock or Forte report a post office during the 1850s when this cover was sent. A ghost DPO ? (It looks like Millport - one word, yet it could be Mill Port which has been in operation from 1836 to present) Scarce cover!
Sent c. 1850s (stamp damaged at bottom left), opened roughly at left with edge tearing, sealed edge tear at bottom, general wear & toning. Fair condition.
