Beautiful SS William A Irvin Great Laker Boat Pin.
Queen Of The Silver Stackers from 1938 to 1978.  For more than 40 years the
S.S. William A. Irvin carried iron ore and coal to Great Lakes ports, often crashing through ferocious storms to reach her destinations.  Yet, the enormous vessel represents much more than impressive power.
As the proud flagship of U.S. Steel's Great Lakes Fleet, she provided comfort and elegance to dignitaries and guests who traveled the Lakes with her.
This rare combination of maritime force and grace has been experienced by very few.
The Irvin has been in a Museum since 1986 in Duluth, Minnesota.
Pin is approximately 1 ¾ inches long as you can see in the photo. Great tie tack or addition to any Jacket.
Rare item, they make great gifts for your favorite Great Lakes Ship fan.
Pins are stamped from metal, Then painted and some have epoxy coating for durability.
I hope you will treasure these memories as jewelry to be worn, and not merely as trinkets to be discarded and forgotten.
