A complete account of island life at the start of the nineteenth century. This book is in lovely condition for its age and must be one of the best if not the best, surviving example. There are two bookplates in the front of previous owners. Bound in the back is a handwritten note signed by Mr Plees dated 3 July 1820, headed "The Academy Hill Street St Helier", also a an old newspaper cutting. The fold out map at page 1 measures 20 by 17 inches approx and apart from a small repaired tear in the fold is in excellent original condition.
