For sale is a RARE! and FANCY! Antique 18th C seamed brass beaker /drinking cup with well preserved engraved flora decorations around the wall of the cup. It is one of the rare early drinking devices used to serve liquor in high style 1700s home or a tavern. Most likely Continental European origin. The wall of the cup is seamed and there are also clear stretch marks on the wall (see photo #2), both of which distinguishes it from the later turned brass objects of the 1800s. See example B from the Antique Brass reference book.

The beaker measures approximately 4.5” tall and 3” in diameter. It is in excellent condition. No holes or crack. Slightly bumped and misshaped at the base and the rim due to long term use. Interior of the cup has great green patina due to old age. Overall, an excellent and highly decorative example of 18th century early drinking device that should not be passed by any serious collectors of antique brass work/early metal objects.
