Illustrated 'by a series of about 100 separately-printed plates', as well as numerous in-text illustrations.
This is a guide to architectural and design studies and practices, edited by G. Lister Sutcliffe, with 'contributions from many specialists'. These works offer a comprehensive understanding of the realm of architecture, alongside helpful tips that help professional's in their day-to-day practices.
Volume 1 includes architectural styles and 'Woods: Their Characteristics and Uses', with various in-text illustrations and ten plates, two of which are coloured.
Volume 2 continues 'Woods' with 'Wood-Working Tools and Machinery'. Illustrations and eight plates, one of which is coloured.
Volume 3 details 'Drawing and Drawing-Instruments' and 'Practical Geometry' with six plates, four of which are coloured.
Volume 4 details 'The Strength of Timber and Timber Framing', and its practical application, followed by 'Carpentry'. Four plates, one of which is coloured.
Volume 5 continues 'Carpentry' with fifteen plates, one of which is coloured.
Volume 6 continues 'Carpentry' with 'Wood-Carving', as well as 'Stairs and Handrailing'. Twenty-four plates, one being coloured with flip-out attachments.
Volume 7 continues 'Stairs and Handrailing', with 'Airtight Case-Making', 'Wood-Turning', and 'Cabinet-Making'. With twenty-one plates, five of which are coloured.
Volume 8 concludes the collection with 'Joinery', 'Shop Management', 'Estimating', and 'Building Law'. It also has a glossary. Eleven plates, one of which is coloured.
G. Lister Sutcliffe was an English Arts and Crafts architect who was the associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

CONDITION
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Cloth is bright, with some arks to boards, particularly to front board of Vol 5, 7, and 8. Vol 7 is particularly faded to front board. Minor edge wear to extremities, with a bit of bumping to head and tail of spine. Loss of spine to Vol 5 with binding exposed at bottom edge. Some offsetting to front endpapers of a few volumes. Vol 8 has a damp stain as well as cockling to the rear pastedown and endpaper. Prior owner's pencil inscription to front pastedown of Vol 8. Some plates are detaching from binding to Vol 3. Pages are bright and clean throughout, with a few spots particularly to the first few pages of text.
