1921-1940 Light cobalt blue pattern on white earthenware of 3 phoenix birds with 5 spots on breasts looking over left shoulders. Typical of many P.B. pieces, the pattern transfer is not consistent. The traditional pattern of Kiku (chrysanthemum flower in center) and Kiri (Paulownia plants) with a vines and leaves pattern flowing from them to surround the phoenix birds. The dish has the cloud and mountain border at the rim’s edge. The plate has the “Made in Japan” back stamp (ca. 1936). In perfect condition.
