For sale is a VERY RARE Antique DATED 1909 12" size Terrestrial Globe on highly decorative Cast Iron Tri-foot Stand. It is patent dated for 1909 and published by W & A. K. Johnstone Geographers, Engravers and Publishers located in Edinburgh and London, UK. This high style table top globe stands 23" high with the foot spread of 12". The surface of the globe is made of paper and has been obtaining a great amount of age toning and patina. There are some spots with little pieces of lost paper, but mostly very small. The worst part is around the north pole. The Antarctic looks excellent. I have tried my best to present photos taken from all angles of the globe. Please see photos and zoom in for details.
The tri-foot stand is very well made with fancy casting of scrolled flora and a classic animal paw ends. It stands very steadily and even. No wobble.
Overall, an excellent well preserved DATED 1909 terrestrial globe ready to be added to your Victorian home display. It will certainly stand as an inspiring object and a conversation piece in a high end library/study.
