After working at a karate studio for twenty years, I went looking for another job that I would love when the owner moved to California.  This was not to be.  Instead I ended up working as a telemarketer.  Being a telemarketer is as horrible as you might image it to be - and then some.  The one position I held at an HVAC company actually wasn't too bad in the beginning, being a new company.  The owners quickly evolved into having us lie to customers and also pressuring us if we didn't produce the appointments they needed.  This is a job where you are always aware that you could be fired at any given time and that someone is just waiting to take your place.  While I was on the phone I started to write down what homeowners said to me and to doodle what I thought they might look like.  The result was more than four hundred cartoons and some information about my work history, my many job interviews and how to get rid of telemarketers.  It was a lot of fun to work on this project and very satisfying, especially after I was fired when I didn't get any appointments for a few days in a row after being their top salesperson for more than eight months.  The cartoons were my favorite things to work on and somewhat of a continuation from my first book, Bully Boss - A Case Study.  This was also a book about a company I worked for and the crazy owners I had to deal with.  It seems to my lot in life to expose horrible bosses and horrible working conditions.  I am busy right now working on another book about a terrible relationship.  It is handy to have a publishing company of my own to be able to publish my books as well as the books of martial artists I got to know.
