This listing is for a long 28" strand of beautiful Ancient Islamic period Evil Eye glass beads in very good condition.  These are frequently found in Mali,  in the areas of D'Jenne and Gao, where they were traded along the sub-Saharan caravan routes.  Similar beads are also found in Mauritania.  These beads are stunning in their beauty, coming in blue and sometimes green, with white, black, yellow, green, and sometimes red eyes. They are dated to Islamic Period, between the 8th and 12th century AD.

Several examples of beads like this can be found in an excellent book Middle Eastern and Venetian Glass Beads: Eighth to the Twentieth Centuries by Augusto Panini.

The beads are ancient and somewhat irregular in shape. Every bead is unique.  These are in great ancient condition.
