Antique Map of Merionithshire by John Speede 1610 Original. Framed.

A lovely rare and highly decorative original copper line engraving, produced on paper and hand painted, it is described by John Speede and dated 1610.

This is a very desirable original map of the county with galleons, sea monsters, elaborate scale bar and a compass rose.

An excellent example.

This is an Original and not a copy as can be seen by the faint centre fold which should always be present, and the text from the reverse side showing faintly through in the close-up photos, and finally the plate marks that are present from the printing process and can be seen around the edge of the image.

The map was attractively hand painted at the time of production.

The Map is framed and ready to hang.
