Like the larger machine models, the Tormek T-4 Original comes equipped with Tormek's Original Grindstone. What distinguishes the grindstones between the models is their size. Tormek's SG-200 Original Grindstone is optimized to combine efficient steel removal, a nice finish and a long life span. Using the SP-650 Stone Grader that is included with the machine, you can alternate the surface of the grinding wheel from 220 grit to a surface equivalent to 1000 grit, which provides several characteristics in the same single grinding wheel.
The Tormek T-4 Original is ideal for sharpening chisels, knives, scissors, and smaller tools such as woodcarving tools. It also works well for woodturning tools and drills. We recommend one of Tormek's larger models for sharpening planer blades and moulding knives. Please note that a few types of woodturning gouges can't be honed using the SVD-186 R Gouge Jig on the leather honing wheel due to the compact design of the Tormek T-4 Original. These tools can be honed freehand instead.
The Tormek T-8 Custom includes a stripped Tormek T-8 sharpening machine without grinding wheel or honing wheel. The box includes the basic Tormek accessories: HB-10 Tormek Sharpening Handbook, WM-200 AngleMaster for measuring the bevel angle, and US-105 Universal Support for the jigs. The Tormek T-8 Original is equipped with loads of smart features to make your sharpening easier. For example, the water trough has a convenient screw lift to easily raise and lower the water trough. It also has a double function magnetic scraper: during sharpening, the magnet collects steel particles, and after sharpening, the scraper will make it easy to clean the water trough. For long tools that may drip water outside the water trough (like chef's knives and planer blades), you can easily fit the enclosed water chute onto the edge of the water trough.
Another worked-through detail is the stainless-steel main shaft with Tormek's unique EzyLock nut, which enables tool-free locking and unlocking of the grinding wheel.
