Description

Lovely antique silver straining spoon. Features a squirrel eating a nut on the tip of the handle, descending to a Roman or Greek portrait with bow, bright cut leaves, flowers which flows to the rim of the bowl of the spoon. The reticulated bowl displays flowers and foliate decor with the center displays two men fishing under a tree - one seated and one standing. Bears a hallmark of GB and a figural hallmark which is difficult to decipher. The spoon has been tested and is sterling. 7 1/2" long, bowl of spoon is 3 3/4" wide. Weighs 2.1 troy ounces.  We believe this may have originated from Belgium or Low Countries. Extraordinary workmanship.......great collector item.
