Il primo febbraio 1968 venne posata la prima pietra dell'attuale fábrica de licores de antioquia, su terreni ceduti dal governatore mario aramburo al dottor octavio arizmendi. Il dottor fabio ortega arbeláez fu uno dei principali artefici della costruzione. Al suo dinamismo e alla sua visione progressista si deve la perfetta organizzazione della struttura dello stabilimento. La costruzione terminò nel 1970, ed il 13 aprile dello stesso anno si inaugurò la nuova fabbrica.

La fábrica de licores de antioquia è considerata la prima distilleria della colombia. I suoi metodi di produzione, la qualità dei suoi prodotti, il giusto criterio amministrativo dei suoi organi dirigenti e il suo volume di vendite la hanno convertita nel leader delle industrie di questo campo nel paese.
