"The Bemus Point to Stow Ferry is a very important part of the history of Chautauqua County.  We live in a world of rapid change and even the form and shape of the Ferry has changed over its 200-year-life.  However, in spite of many challenges to its existence, it is still the 'Narrows' putting back and forth, a precious reminder of stability.: -excerpt off the Introduction.

Wikipedia.org describes the Ferry as a 9-car cable operated vessel, used more now as a tourist attraction since the construction of the Chautauqua Lake Bridge.  The Ferry ride is free; donations accepted.

The author, Arthur C. Thomas, has lived in North Harmony since 1950.  He worked as a professional photographer and many of the photos in this book are his.
