RARE MARKED 1008
BRADLEY & HUBBARD OR JUDD
 ART DECO CAMEL BOOKENDS

For your consideration here I am offering

these guaranteed old, genuine and original. They are each numbered 1008 on the bottom of the back, which is the model number for these Bradley and Hubbard or B & H foundry old art deco bookends, circa 1925. Heavy old foundry cast iron, weighing 6 pounds the pair and measure approx 6.5" wide x 5.5" tall. They are quite rare to find in this nice condition with the original polychrome paint.  The painted finish is 95% intact and all original with antique patina. The one on the left has wear to the guilding on the base in front of the camel, shown in pictures. These are art deco Egyptian revival bookends.  The camels wear elaborate embroidered and fringed saddle and bridle with tassels and colorful breastplate. The background is gilded bronze and then the saddle has blue, jade green, blood red and burgundy painted trims. You can see the crescent moon and star symbol right in the middle of the camel's saddle. And the camel has that supercilious look that camels seem to always have. And again, these are rare, you won't even see them pictured in the Encyclopedia of Bookends. Please see my other auctions for more antique and vintage items, I will combine on shipping whenever possible.
