Please note that we can not and do not guarantee 9.8 (M/NM+). We list things at a base of 9.4 (NM) for this reason. Look at our feedback rating for what our customers normally receive and you will see that we take great care in describing the condition of our books.  If anything is ever what we would expect to be less than 9.4 (NM) if we sent it in for grading, we will always add a specific note to the auction bullets.  Otherwise, our standard procedure is to inspect the spine and corners (not always the back of the book -- you will know we looked at the back if there are photos of the back) when we take photos.  That's the other thing-- we take photos of the ACTUAL book for 95%+ of our book auctions.
