Our team recently picked up a GoPro Hero 11 and noticed it overheated while filming under the sun. The GoPro Hero 11 is an amazing camera however, it is an action/sports camera so it is expected to have adequate airflow to cool the GoPro. When filming on a sunny day, if the GoPro does not get enough air flow and is filming in a higher resolution it can cause the GoPro to overheat so we decided to make a sun shade / hat for the GoPro. The sun shade hat is a friction fit and fits snug on top of the GoPro, this hat (available in white or translucent) will cover the camera from direct sun exposure.
Design features
- Holes on top for ventilating heat, keeps heat from being trapped under hat
- Tabs on sides for grabbing hat for easier removal or handling
- Durable construction, no flimsy parts
- Snug fit, to continue providing sun protection even in windy conditions (unless it is a tornado/hurricane)
- Covers from sun light and/or light rain
Material
Filament: White PETG
-Resists degradation by UV radiation and other natural elements
-Recyclable since it is made out of the standard plastic PET
-High level of chemical resistance (this is why I chose PETG over the cheaper PLA material)
-Holds up to repeated force
*note* the clear is not 100% transparent, it is more of translucent / cloudy in appearance
