HOT-ROD AND REEL!
1950's Mike Maltese
PUBLICITY/LOBBY CARD SKETCH
from Willie Ito Collection
Warner Brothers Merrie Melodie Looney Tunes
with WILE E COYOTE and the ROAD RUNNER

Comes with a Charles Scott Gallery Certificate of Authenticity

This very rare sketch was done by Mike Maltese and given to animator Willie Ito as a concept and reference for the lobby cards and publicity art for the 1959 classic, "Hot-Rod and Reel!" Sadly, we have not located an image of the final lobby card.  From the Willie Ito collection.  NOTE: it has a paperclip indentation in the upper left, as it was stored that way for decades.  Measures approximately 9.5" x 12".

Mike Maltese started at Schlesinger Studios in the days of the animation building they lovingly called Termite Terrace.  He was wrote for a variety of directors at WB, (Tex Avery and Friz Freleng) before settling into Chuck Jones's animation unit in 1948.  Over the following decade the team of Maltese and Jones produced many of the classic WB Looney Tunes cartoons we all remember.  Willie Ito also worked in the Jones unit and was given the opportunity to illustrate publicity art for the theatrical shorts it produced.

Animation Art Has Flaws!

Animation Art was meant to be used for production of a show or feature and it was handled as such during the production - it was not meant to be kept pristine for collectors.  So there may be flaws.  If you'd like pristine artwork, please look at the Limited Editions, as that is part of the purpose of them.

Combined Shipping: YES for U.S.!

If you purchase multiple items, please WAIT until you are invoiced to pay.  If you pay, we MUST ship it.

About Us

We have been buying and selling, online and off for four decades.  We are extremely conservative in our purchasing, in that we will not buy anything that we cannot stand by or guarantee its authenticity.  We have a vast collection of hundreds of thousands of items and are a preferred gallery for many companies such as Chuck Jones, Alex Ross, Warner Brothers/Clampett and more, so feel free to contact us if you're looking for something that we do not yet have up online.

WE ARE FANATICAL ABOUT PACKAGING

We've had items survive floods, storms and more. We will always make the smart choice to ship to you - the choice that gets it there safe (versus cheap). Our goal is to provide a reliable, safe delivery of your item.  We will not ship via a less expensive method than we have listed.

WE RECYCLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT - so you may find everything from wrapping paper to plastic shopping bags as your packing material. WE NEVER compromise on the safety or cleanliness of your item, so rest assured we WILL get it to you in the shape it left us.
