It was new technology, and I wanted to see what it was like, I wanted to try it, and see what I could do with it. June 1979, He installed a Roland Jupiter 4, a Mellotron, a Yamaha CS80, an Arp Pro Soloist, a Mini Moog, a 16-track Studder recorder, and a monitor at the entrance of a vacant house he bought a few months ago (Lower Gate Farm, Peesmarsh, near Rye). We rented a mixer for two weeks and had engineer Eddie Klein set up all the machines for us, and in August we are planning our usual family vacation on a farm in Campbeltown, Scotland. We had so much fun with this new toy that we kept improvising recordings at the Spirit of Lanachan Studios, and although we weren't planning on releasing anything at first, 'Wonderful Christmastime' turned out to be something we couldn't ignore. Therefore, it was decided to be released as Paul McCartney's first solo single. Paul, who didn't want to throw away the excellent track, provided the sound source to the record company after the Japan tour was cancelled. He said he didn't want to put out a double album, partly because his previous album Back To the Egg didn't sell well. So "McCartney II" was released as a single album in the spring of 1980. 2CD with rare sound sources! It is a press CD that will be a permanent preservation version. Moon Child Press 2CD
