Vintage Spindle Runout Test Bar - With Original Case - CNC.

I am unsure exactly what this item is. I have asked others who know more and their responses are quoted below. I cannot find any brand name on this piece. The only information is “CVRT 45” and “#3”. I am not an expert in this field so I do not know if this piece is still fully functional. Inside the box has a certification letter and envelope from XLO dated 12/8/77.

“This appears to be test bars for testing spindle run-out of what ever mill they will fit, based on the paper, and the tolerances.”

“The CVRT45 part number identifies the retention knob. You would swap that out as you change between machine manufacturers to put the test bar in the spindle. Looks like it's for a CAT40 spindle.”

- box and tool have some grime, dust, and discoloration due to previous storage and age

- tool has some scratches near the bottom

- one piece of the black leather strip inside the box is loose
