1980 Silver Proof Crown Coin Set
Hi, up for sale and taken from my collection is a Royal Mint boxed set of Her Majesty
Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother silver proof crown coins (7 coin set) dated 1980
commemorating her 80th birthday.
Coins are all encapsulated within a good condition about unblemished padded box still
with outer card slip case/sleeve and complete with COA.
Some coins do have mild milky toning as is often on these sets - now over 40 years old!
Coins include UK, Guernsey, Gibraltar, St Helena, Tristan Da Cunha, Falklands, Tuvalu.
Specifications (all coins) - Alloy ... sterling .925 silver,
All coins have a weight of 28.276g and a Diameter of 38.61mm except the Tuvalu $10
which is larger and weighs 35g with a diameter of 42mm.
The UK crown depicts a radiating pattern of bows and lions on the reverse which is an
allusion to the Queen Mother's family name of Bowes-Lyon. Issue limit 250,000 crowns.
Falklands Islands - the islands are situated in the South Atlantic about 500 miles from
Cape Horn. The population being almost totally British. Issue limit 25,000 crowns.
Gibraltar - the reverse depicts a portrait of Her Majesty with the famous rock in the
background. The rocky promontory is 2 1/4 square miles. Issue limit 25,000 crowns.
Guernsey - the reverse depicts a profile of the Queen Mother above a garland of flowers
including the Guernsey lily and the Elizabeth of Glamis rose. Issue limit 25,000 crowns.
St Helena - the reverse depicts HMS Vanguard anchored off St Helena on 29th April
1947 when the Queen Mother visited the island as Queen Elizabeth with King George VI
The islands are situated the Atlantic about 1,200 miles off the West Coast of Africa.

Tristan Da Cunha - the reverse depicts a profile of Her Majesty with a garland of small
wild roses which are grown on the island. Issue limit 25,000 crowns.
Tuvalu - the reverse depicts a portrait of Her Majesty. Tuvalu is a group of islands -
formerly the Ellice Islands - situated in the Pacific. Issue limit 25,000 crowns.
(this is the largest coin at 42mm and weight of 35g)
