Panning HandleThe gimbal head is supplied with a metal panning handle that connects to the gimbal head. This is useful for people using the head with a spotting scope, and also those that want to use it for video shooting. The gimbal head is ideal for wildlife photography and birdwatching, especially for extensive observation, because it guarantees perfect balance, even with heavy equipment. | Fotopro LockerThese clamps are screw-knobs, they have the patented "Fotopro Locker" safety locking system. When unscrewing the knob, it will stop with the jaws only partly opened. This allows you to slide your camera or lens around in the clamp to adjust the balance, but without worry it falling. If you need to remove the camera, just press the lock switch and continue to screw counterclockwise to effectively protect the safety of large lenses. | Panoramic KnobThe two knobs on the panning base controls the pan tension and locking. There is one detent at each angle marker on the panning base, and the head will give you a click as it slips into each one, then tightening the second knob engages a click-stop system. The bottom scale can be used with the horizontal bowl fine-tuning system to quickly adjust the horizontal orientation, making the panoramic joint more convenient. |
The gimbal head is similarly uniquely engineered. The folding arm allows for fore and aft movement along the Z-axis enabling shooting directly upward or downward, and also to better balance heavier lenses – this seems like it will be an excellent feature for astrophotography and macro-type shots. The head clicks solidly into its various positions (0 ,+45, +90, and 0 ,-45 and -90), and it gives a feeling of confidence when being used. The articulation also allows the arm to fold downward when not in use, keeping the folded dimensions of the tripod as small as possible. it does make this head far more versatile. It becomes much easier to use this head as a one-head-for-everything solution.
