What a superb find! Presenting a complete and unused 1950s vintage Dolls House Build up Book by Dick Alderton.
This fabulous vintage children's book was written and designed by the renowned cartoonist Dick Alderton and published by New Century Press Pty Ltd of North York St Sydney.
This eight-page book contains elements which were designed to be cut out with instructions for assembling the pieces to construct a wonderfully charming and beautifully detailed three-dimensional dolls house, complete with chimney and attic. The dolls house was intended to be anchored to a page which has been printed with a garden path and flower beds. Cut out chairs, table, umbrella, trees and even a clothes line with clothes ready to be affixed are all included for the child to surround the dolls house with, creating a wonderfully idyllic little setting.
The pieces have been printed in vibrant solid primary colours of red, yellow, green and blue.
The fabulous cover graphics are wonderfully indicative of the 1950s era and illustrate how this charming build your own dolls house was intended to look.
SIZE: This book measures 220mms high x 285mms wide.
CONDITION: This build up book is presented in very good vintage condition with no parts cut out or missing. There are a few small spots of wear to the coloured printed layer of the front cover, one of which appears to be due to the removal of the original price label. Apart from these tiny losses, slight yellowing to the pages from age is the only other noticeable issue. The colours remain nice and vibrant throughout. It's hard to believe this book is near on 70 years old!
This book is an incredibly rare find presented in complete and unused condition, because let's face it, which child could resist cutting out the parts and constructing their own pretty dolls house?
