HAL HOLBROOK - AUTOGRAPHED INSCRIBED PHOTOGRAPH - HFSID 25429

HAL HOLBROOK. Photograph inscribed and signed: "Karen -/Thanks to you/and all -/yrs -/Hal Holbrook". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 8x8¾ (one surface). Captioned at lower margin: "FOG-15 HAL HOLBROOK stars in John Carpenter's 'THE FOG,' a contemporary tale of supernatural terror, as a priest who knows the sinister secret of a 100-year-old shipwreck. Also starring ADRIENNE BARBEAU, JANET LEIGH, JAMIE LEE CURTIS and JOHN HOUSEMAN, it was directed by Carpenter and produced by Debra Hill from their original screenplay, for Avco Embassy Pictures release." The Fog, in which Holbrook starred as Father Robert Malone, was released in 1980. That year, Holbrook also appeared in another feature film, The Kidnapping of the President, and the made-for-TV movie, Off the Minnesota Strip, and he also hosted episodes of the TV series, Omnibus. Stage, screen and television actor Hal Holbrook, born Harold Rowe Holbrook, Jr. in 1925, shot to fame with his one-man show, Mark Twain Tonight!, which debuted on Broadway in 1966 and won him the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play (Holbrook, who was just 29 years of age when he first starred in the play, would bring the play back to Broadway in 1977 and 2005). His fame enabled him to flourish as a starring actor in numerous non-Twain projects, such as The Group (1966), Wild in the Streets (1968), Magnum Force (1973), The Star Chamber (1987), Wall Street (1987), The Firm (1993) and The Majestic (2001). In 1976, Holbrook was Oscar-nominated for his character, "Deep Throat", in All the President's Men. A multi-Emmy winner, he has appeared on a number of TV shows, including in recurring roles on Designing Women (as Reese Watson, 1986-1989) and Evening Shade (as Evan Evans, 1990-1994), and recent turns in such series as The West Wing (2001-2002) and Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service (2006). Holbrook has also starred in a number of made-for-TV movies, including a recurring role as Wild Bill McKenzie in several Perry Mason outings. He has been married to actress Dixie Carter since 1984. Slightly creased at corners. Minor surface creases and impressions (most not evident head on). Fine condition.
