This used head gear is still fully functional.  It says M/L to mean Medium to Large, but in reality fits from Small all the way up to XLarge (Adult-sized) heads in our experience.  It is padded and is not hard.  It is perfect for reducing the impact of blows during sparring, practice and bouts of boxing, mixed martial arts, taekwando, karate and many other forms of hand to hand combat training.
