Pewter is a Scandinavian staple since the Roman times. Scandinavian pewter craftsmen have been producing unique wares. Historians believe that the copper and other raw materials for the famous metal work was gathered by Norsemen during their epic sea voyages.

Pewter was originally considered the “poor man’s tableware” because of its similarity to silver and cheaper cost. The designs from silver pieces were often just copied directly onto the pewter. It was the Norwegian craftsmen who took this plain old metal and turned it into works of functional art.
