Wyoming horse-trader, Myrl Redding (John Cusack) decides to take the law into his own hands after he finds that justice is no friend. When Redding found that his neighbour, Henry Ballard (L.Q. Jones), had mistreated some of his horses and even the horse handler (John C. McGinley), he took Ballard to court. But the judge (John Goodman) threw the case out. A furious Redding looks for justice his own way and embarks on a cycle of violence that could have a major effect on the politics of the state.
