Square Leather Covered
Dance Rattle

This Dance Rattle I acquired at a Collector of the Pacific Northwest Coastal Tribes Estate Sale.   I don't have any particulars on this rattle other than this was where his collection was from. I believe I was told he spent a lot of time in the Pacific Northwest Coastal and fell in love with the area and it's people. It's in very good condition, the skin is tight making for a good sound.  The leather trin around the sides are tight and secure.  Brass tacks hold much of the trin in place and also you can find some small brass nails that hold the leather in place.  The handle is carved and there's some rabbit fur at the base of the handle.

The trim around the sides (4) of this rattle is leather, 3/4" blue in the middle and 1/4" on each side.  There's a design with a yellow twine that's held in place with brass tacks.  This dance rattle is colorful and different!  I've owned this rattle for over 25 years.
