Victorian Mahogany Mirror Backed Coal Purdonium.

(Collection or courier service available)

A gorgeous antique Victorian mahogany coal scuttle, also known as a purdonium, in excellent condition and dating from around 1930s

The rectagular purdonium  features a top shelf with   an upstand to back  and  bevelled mirror below. The panelled drop door  opens to reveal its original fitted led lined interior, it features brass handles with carrying handles to sides, standing on it's original casters. The casters are brass and porcelain made by cope & collision (C&C patent) .These were renowned for working with quality furniture and you will notice on Victorian quality furniture  that if  it has casters they are likely made by this Birmingham Company.

There is a split in the wood to one side ( see photo  6) and marks on the wood in various parts so please take a close look at the photos as they will form part of the description.

A great piece of original furniture that can still be used for keeping your coal or logs in by your fire.  Easy to manoeuvre around as its on casters. You could also use it as a side table with storage for your magazines ECT.
