Up for bid is a very large three-piece roast carving set in
the popular WAVERLY pattern by Wallace, introduced in 1890. The knife is 14 1/4 inches long, the fork is
10 3/4 inches and the sharpening steel is 12 7/8 inches. The knife blade and steel are plain carbon
steel, but the fork tines and the flip-out guard are silver plated. All three pieces are monogrammed “MCA” as
shown. The handles are marked with the
old Wallace trademark and “STERLING” at the joint.
Condition on the set is fairly good. The knife handle has an unusual curve to one
side as shown. The steel pieces all have
stains and minor surface rust from use, and the plating on the fork tines has
considerable wear-through. There are
minor handle dings. Regardless, a rare
all-original set in a fine old pattern!
