Les Girls / The Pirate (Original Motion Picture Soundtracks) LP (1957)

Rare British 1st release with sexy cover of the original soundtrack to the 1957 MGM musical ‘Les Girls’ (dir. George Cukor). Also included is the soundtrack to 'The Pirate'.

The focus for this record is Gene Kelly and songwriter Cole Porter. Les Girls had just been released in theatres, so The Pirate is relegated to second billing, with only a photo on the back.

Music conducted by Adolf Deutsch (side A) and Lennie Hayton (side B). Songs written by Cole Porter.

Condition

Vinyl: G-VG. Looks very clean on visual inspection. A few light hairline scuffs when viewed at an angle – but nothing major. Played just pre-listing and sound clarity is very good on side A. Vocals are bright and only very light static through quieter cues. Run-in on both sides a bit crackly. Side B has more obvious surface noise and the odd click. An enjoyable listen overall.
Outer Sleeve (Cover): VG. Colours are clear and unfaded. Fantastic laminated sleeve both sides. Corners on aperture badly scuffed but spine corners only lightly nicked. Edges clean with only small scuffs and the odd split. Spine pinched and clean but with light creases and dropout. Aperture slightly dogeared and bowed. Reverse side wonderfully clean. Light delamination and creases in places. Flipbacks present and attached. Light disc ring outline. Overall very good.
Inner Sleeve: EX. Original. Thick poly-lined white paper with square corners and central hole. Minor creases/folds through normal handling.
