La rivista Façade, il fashion pub di culto della fine degli anni Settanta e dei primi anni Ottanta, ha riunito la band per un'edizione speciale del 40° anniversario.

Collaboratori e soggetti della rivista includono il designer Kenzo Takada, il fondatore della rivista Alain Benoist e i fotografi Pierre et Gilles e Ellen von Unwerth.

Pierre et Gilles - o Pierre Commoy e Gilles Blanchard - sono diventati famosi grazie al loro lavoro per la rivista, inclusi i ritratti di Andy Warhol, Mick Jagger e Iggy Pop.

Una serie di ritratti dei fotografi su sfondi rosa gomma da masticare e uova di pettirosso occupano la copertina anteriore e posteriore di entrambi i volumi del doppio numero.

"Abbiamo girato le prime copertine di Façade 40 anni fa", ha spiegato Blanchard. "Ora siamo finalmente dall'altra parte."

Jean-Baptiste Mondino — fotografo di moda e regista di iconici video musicali per Madonna, Don Henley, Lenny Kravitz e Vanessa Paradis — ha scattato i ritratti di Pierre et Gilles nel corso di un pomeriggio nello studio del duo.

 

Façade magazine, the cult fashion pub of the late-Seventies and early-Eighties, has gotten the band back together again for a special 40th-anniversary edition.

Contributors and subjects of the magazine include designer Kenzo Takada, the magazine’s founder Alain Benoist, and the photographers Pierre et Gilles and Ellen von Unwerth.

Pierre et Gilles — or Pierre Commoy and Gilles Blanchard — rose to fame through their work for the magazine, including portraits of Andy Warhol, Mick Jagger and Iggy Pop.

A series of portraits of the photographers against bubblegum pink and robin’s egg backgrounds occupy the front and back covers of both volumes of the double issue.

“We shot the first covers of Façade 40 years ago,” Blanchard explained. “Now we’re finally on the other side.”

Jean-Baptiste Mondino — the fashion photographer and director of iconic music videos for Madonna, Don Henley, Lenny Kravitz and Vanessa Paradis — shot the portraits of Pierre et Gilles over the course of an afternoon at the duo’s studio.

The magazine also includes an interview with Mondino’s aesthetician, detailing his waxing habits.
