"Brian Truelove was born in Scotland in the early 20th Century. After studies in London, England with noted artists Harry de Main, and Stanley Woodward he moved to the New England area of the United States. Truelove is best known for his watercolors of the New England coastal areas.


Truelove was an artist member of the Rockport Art Association, the North Shore Art Association, and the Salmagundi Club in New York.

The thing to realize about this painting is that Brian Truelove rarely painted people in his paintings. you can see on the aft section of the ship that there are two visible figures. I wonder who they are?
