Artists and Engravers: Made by 'Jacob Houbraken' after 'Pieter Frederik de la Croix'. Jakob Houbraken (1698-1780) was a very productive Dutch 18th. Century engraver, who produced a great number of book-illustrations in the taste of the time. He also engraved many portraits and some prints after contemporary masters. Pieter Frederik de la Croix (1709-1782) worked as a portrait- and naval painter in The Hague.
