The Blurb

This, along with The Tale of Miss Moppet, was intended for very young children. It is a simple tale of what befalls a rude little rabbit that doesn't say'please' before he takes something that belongs to someone else.

The Book

This is a RARE 1st Issue and 1st Print of the 1st UK hardback Panorama/Concertina edition published by F. Warne in 1906

The correct 1st issue with London' listed before 'New York' on the back panel.

With just 10,000 copies printed, this title in this wallet format is one of the rarest Beatrix Potter books to be found.

(Most titles were 20,000 copies in the first print)

A lovely complete example that has been gently used over time and has the usual wear we expect to find on this title.

Importantly the tab and catch are still fairly firmly attached, albeit with a little creasing and rubbing.

Original cloth boards are largely clean and do sport a handful of small marks.

The joints are holding well, with just a little splitting on the inside of the book, some minor wear to the concertina folds and the usual vertical creasing to a few of the story/illustration panels.

A tiny bit of purple endpaper has become attached to the green cloth boards.

We’ve had the pleasure of handling a few of these rare concertina books over the years and this is the best we’ve handled.

We have loads of other great classic Children's books available, including many signed copies.
