Presenting an exceptionally scarce and desirable Mid Century art glass chalice / goblet designed by the legendary Erik Hoglund (1932-1998) for the quality Scandinavian art glass maker, Boda Sweden.

This stunning chalice is beautifully decorated with a series of four primitively styled faces surrounding the body of the bowl. The relief faces add an appealing textural element to the design while magnificently accentuating the stunning sparkle of the clear ice-like crystal.

This exquisite piece is executed in Hoglund's wonderfully whimsical and playful style, reducing each element of the design to its most simplest of elements to create an incredibly refined and sophisticated timeless work of art which transcends function.

Not only is this fine example aesthetically pleasing, its well weighted form with a solid crystal base is perfectly balanced ensuring it is an absolute delight to hold and use.

SIZE: This impressive piece stands approx 130mms tall and measures 85mms in diameter at the top rim.

CONDITION: This fine example is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The crystal retains a magnificent clarity and sparkle with no frosting or clouding. This piece has been very well cared for and presents spectacularly.

THE DESIGNER: In 1957 Hoglund received the prestigious prize for excellence in design. Erik Hoglund is considered one of the most innovative glass designers of the 20th century and this is a highly desirable example of his work.
