Rich color and Sparkling natural tanzanite gemstone originating from Tanzania. This weighs 14.80 CTS and has been cut and faceted into a pear shape. The measurements are approximately 18.3 x 12.1 x 8.5 mm.

The stone has a very deep blue coloring with undertones of purple. On multiple angles a fascinating sparkle effect can be viewed. There is also hints of rainbow inclusions and also an internal violet flash of light. The violet flash is considered a highly rare and desirable trait for a Tanzanite.

Tanzanite is considered one of the most rare gemstones in the world, and is known to be more rare than diamonds. It is estimated that the stone is up to 1000 times more rare than diamonds. It is only found in northern Tanzania near Mount Kilimanjaro. It is estimated by analysts that once the current supply runs out, the remaining pieces will be "heirloom" items.

Tanzanite belongs to the zoisite family of stones, and is the blue /violet variety. It is a trichroic stone, meaning it has the ability to show three different sets of color hues depending on the angle on which its viewed. It is also considered to be a birthstone of December.
