The commemorative medal is dedicated to the celebration of the feat, mass heroism and resilience of the citizens of the city, which from the first hours of the Russian invasion of Ukraine was under round-the-clock shelling. It is Chernihiv, one of the oldest cities
Ukraine became one of the first, trying to invade the enemy troops, but thanks to the combined resistance of all the forces of the army, the invaders failed to capture it. After unsuccessful attempts to capture the city, the Russians blew up the bridges and began to equate it to the ground, as a result of which shelling damaged many civilian facilities, including schools and kindergartens, many residential buildings were destroyed to the ground. For a long time in Chernihiv there was no electricity, water, heat, gas, there was not enough food, but thanks to solidarity, support and mutual assistance, the locals survived.
