For sale is a nice Antique 19th C Victorian era American Wallpaper Hat Box containing an original period lady’s hat.

The box is made entirely out of paper with hand painted and stenciled details. There is a lady’s hat that fit perfectly within. The hat is certainly in the period fashion/style of the Victorian era. The hat is pure black made in fine velvet and decorated with satin bands and bows as well as a showy feather plumage.

The box measures 12.5” by 9” for the lid and about 9” tall. The box is in solid condition with no stains and losses. The interior appear to be dry and clean. Age appropriate surface oxidation and discoloration is to be expected. Please check photos from all angles to see the detailed condition.

The hat is also in very solid condition and the color well preserved considering this is a textile object that is about 150 years old. There are some fading of the color on the underside of the hat as shown in the photo, but looks good with the proper side up. no damage or missing parts detected.

Overall, an excellent piece of Victorian fashion history in its all original condition! It would make a fantastic window display for a Victorian themed shop or museum!
