Lindberg | Motorized X3 Stilleto | Kit 2335 | 1/48 Scale | 1982 | Battery Power!

The X3 Stiletto, developed by Eurocopter (now Airbus Helicopters), is a groundbreaking experimental helicopter that blends traditional rotorcraft capabilities with the speed and agility of a fixed-wing aircraft. First unveiled in 2010, the X3 features a unique design with two large rotor blades and two propellers mounted on short wings, creating a hybrid aircraft known as a compound helicopter. This innovative configuration allows the X3 Stiletto to achieve significantly higher speeds than traditional helicopters, with a recorded top speed of approximately 250 knots (about 290 miles per hour), while retaining the ability to take off and land vertically. The X3 was developed as a technology demonstrator to explore the potential for increased speed, range, and versatility in rotary-wing aircraft and has since contributed to advancements in high-speed helicopter design and concepts for future military and civilian applications.
