American piece of Civil War history. Badge is made of gold and is marked on the reverse with “B. B. & B.” for Bailey, Banks and Biddle jewelers of Philadelphia. Front portions test at 12k and back as 14k as shown in photos.

The badge has a top piece of crossed cavalry sabers, a blue and white ribbon, a pair of crossed cannons below the ribbon and a planchet in the form of a six armed cross enameled in red with the badges of six of the corps assigned to the army. They are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 9th Corps. In the center of the cross is a seal with a crescent moon for the 11th Corps, a star for the 12th and a cypher of the letters “A P.”

Ribbon is tattered but present. Close to 3 inches in length. Total weight of 8.60 DWT includes the entire ribbon as I will not compromise the structure to weigh the star.
